Your house is telling you something. Are you listening?

Spring Has a Way of Making It Obvious

You walk through your front door and something shifts. Maybe it's the light coming in differently now that the days are longer. Maybe it's that corner of the kitchen you've been mentally redesigning for two years. Maybe it's just - this isn't working anymore.

Spring is the season homeowners feel it most. The itch to change. And then, almost immediately, the overwhelm.

Where do I even start?

It's the question we hear more than any other. And honestly? It's the right one to ask. Here's a few weekend projects to keep you busy.

But, Before You Call Anyone; Ask Yourself This

Which room costs you the most energy every day? Not the most outdated. Not the biggest. The one that quietly drains you - the kitchen that doesn't flow, the entryway that sets the wrong tone before your day begins, the bathroom you apologize for every time a guest visits. That's where we begin.

What would "fixed" actually feel like? Get specific. Not "I want it to feel more open", but why does it feel closed right now? Is it the layout? The light? The lack of storage? The more clearly you can describe the problem, the quicker we can solve it.

What's your honest timeline? Are you hoping to be done by the graduation? Planning around a life event? Timeline shapes everything; design decisions, contractor availability, material lead times. Earlier is always better, especially in spring when project calendars fill fast.

Are you ready to make decisions? Renovation moves at the pace of choices. Tile, hardware, fixtures, layout. The clients who are ready to decide (or trust their designer to decide) have far better experiences than those who hesitate at every turn. You should know how you make decisions to secure a productive partnership.

What's your actual number? Not the number you'd love to spend. The number you'd spend if the project came in right and felt worth it. Budget determines every recommendation we make, and a real number, even a range, lets us design something that works rather than something we have to walk back later.

If you can answer even three of these, you're more ready than you think.

Trending Color For the Season

ICYMI: Lakeview Drive, Edina MN

This one is fresh and we're thrilled to share it.

On Lakeview Drive, we weren't just asked to renovate, we were asked to rethink how an entire family lives inside their home. Every room. Every transition. Every detail that goes unnoticed until it's finally right.

Thoughtful design, precision craftsmanship. An eye for what feels both familiar and new.

We're sharing the full reveal, what we did, why we did it, and how we elevated this home from top to bottom, on the blog now.

You’ll see our firm on Build Bar, a new platform built for homeowners and industry pros who want real guidance from experienced builders, before the big decisions. We’re proud to be featured alongside other vetted professionals we admire.

WHAT'S ON BOARD THIS SEASON FROM KATIE'S DESK Spring Arrived, and So Did a Whole New Set of Obsessions Every season, we do a reset. We pull inspiration from the projects we're living inside of, the things filling our feeds, the books on our nightstands, and the materials we keep reaching for. And every time, a palette emerges that feels less like a trend and more like a collective exhale. This spring, that exhale looks like Sherwin-Williams Cascade Green built floor-to-ceiling in a mudroom...

You Walk Past it Everyday There's a term for what happens to our brains in familiar spaces. Habituation. It's the same reason you stop hearing the hum of your refrigerator, stop noticing the crack in the hallway plaster, stop registering that the kitchen layout has never actually worked for how your family moves. And for most homeowners, it's the reason the project that needs to happen most is the one that keeps getting pushed. We often hear from you, that you've waited over 20 years to do...
